Sidewalk Sunday School is reaching directly into the lives of our neighbors...
The Grace UMC Sidewalk Ministry provided backpacks to children in the Reed Park neighborhood in Mesa. In June and July, church members collected school supplies and backpacks to present to the children in our program and beyond so they could be assured of a good start to the school year. A total of 95 new backpacks prepared by grade levels were presented to children and an additional 25 bags of supplies were distributed to a total of 120 children on Saturday, July 30th. Amazingly, after all of this, there were still some supplies leftover which were then donated to Longfellow Elementary School on the Wednesday and Thursday before school started. The job got done in no time and new people who had not volunteered for Sidewalk were linked to the program and the children in the Sidewalk ministry. Just a few pictures:
